Colotrim Overview

The Colotrim product is an ‘As Seen on TV’ product and is marketed in an extremely hyped and over-exaggerated way, as such products usually are.

The Colotrim website begins with a video presentation and written information warning the viewer about the environmental dangers around us and how our generally unhealthy lifestyles can lead to toxic build-up. This of course, can also lead to feeling sluggishness and an increase in weight. In fact, the company claim that virtually every disorder known to man can be traced back to having an unhealthy colon, something that Colotrim is able to correct.

The site points out the benefits of colon cleansing which can include an increase in energy, clearer skin, better concentration, ridding the body of parasites and, most importantly (for many people), weight loss.

There are some very misleading features of the Colotrim site, in particular the section which supposedly features ‘Colotrim in the media’. This is actually nothing more than a list of quotes from various TV shows regarding colon health and does not make any mention of the Colotrim product at all (a fact that is only pointed out in the small print).

There are a few testimonials plus a reasonably good FAQ section which answers questions such as how exactly Colotrim helps the user lose weight, how long it should take and the dosage (in this case 2 capsules per day, one in the morning and one at bedtime).

Details Of Colotrim

Colotrim
The ingredients in Colotrim are all explained very well, although there are no indications of how much of each there are in the formula or if there are any additional, or ‘filler’ ingredients.

All the ingredients are natural and include Goldenseal, a disinfecting botanical that kills parasites and bacteria and is commonly thought of as a ‘cure-all’ by herbalists; Buckthorne, a substance that aids in healthy stool formation and ‘calms’ the gastro-intestinal tract; Licorice root, which, again, kills bacteria and reduces stomach inflammation; Ginger root and Fennel, both aid in reducing nausea and digestive upsets; Rhubarb and Cascara Sagrada, two natural laxatives and finally Pumpkin seed, a potent ingredient that delivers Vitamins B, C, D, E and K and which the website claims is the ‘perfect food’.

Colotrim is recommended for long term use, although some professionals feel Cascara Sagrada is too harsh a laxative to be used continuously. As with any supplement, it is worth checking with one’s own G.P. if in doubt.

Colotrim Advantages

  • The company offer Colotrim for a free trial period
  • The ingredients are well explained
  • The Colotrim FAQ section is informative
  • The ingredients as listed on the website are all natural
  • The site features a video presentation about the Colotrim product
  • The product is designed to be gentle and work ‘holistically’
  • The product is in the mid-price range ($58.95 for a 30-day supply)

Colotrim Disadvantages

  • Taking advantage of the trial offer will register the user for the auto-shipping program, which may be hard to cancel
  • There have been some independent complaints regarding the billing process (i.e. not being able to cancel orders)
  • The image of Colotrim is somewhat gimmicky and over-exaggerated
  • Some statements made by the company are misleading
  • No ingredient amounts are shown

Colotrim – The Bottom Line

Colotrim does indeed contain some good, natural ingredients although without knowing the amounts, it is impossible to judge how well it would work. The company do recommend a diet which is high in fiber and low in fat, so it is likely that, when combined with regular exercise, this alone would produce similar results, without the need for any kind of cleansing product.
