Acai and Colon Cleansing – What to Know

By - Updated Oct 18, 2014

Natural supplements like acai and colon cleansing techniques are designed to work together in order to help flush out your body of the buildup of toxins. Various diseases are linked to bodily toxicity, and colon rejuvenation techniques are often the most immediate ways to address these issues. A colonic cleansing solution is often applied either orally through a detoxification process administered through certain herbal solutions, or through a direct flushing of the colon, typically administered by a trained professional who is licensed to an organization that oversees such natural treatments. Colonic cleansing is a practice that also dates back hundreds of years.

Acai and Colon Cleansing

Some of the natural ingredients used in colonic cleansing include teas such as green tea and a wide assortment of herbs and fruits, including the acai berry. Acai and colon cleansing techniques that are loaded with antioxidants are designed to quickly and effectively rid the body of toxins while also infusing the body with vitamins and minerals in a very direct fashion. Acai berry is gaining in popularity as a colonic solution primarily because its high level of antioxidants found in the fruit’s phytochemicals and flavonoids.

These substances are designed to not only fight free radicals but acai and colon cleansing techniques also work to infuse the body with vitamins A, B1, C and minerals such as iron and calcium. Meanwhile, acai also works as an anti-inflammatory. For that reason, acai may be beneficial with the treatment of certain inflammatory based diseases that include osteoarthritis and gout. However, more conclusive information is needed before these attributes can be proven to work, and therefore the use of supplements such as acai should not be considered an alternative to standard medical treatments for inflammatory conditions.

Likewise, acai berry has been attributed as a way to directly combat the spread of cancer cells, especially as it relates to leukemia. However, more research is needed before these benefits can be determined and it should not be used as a replacement therapy. Still, acai and colon cleansing therapies are gaining in popularity and are often featured in the mainstream press. Many advocates cite a number of health benefits that range from higher energy levels, the prevention of digestive issues, to a much lower rate of acquiring viral or bacterial infections. However colonic cleansing is not recommended for certain people. Your best bet is to speak to a dietician to determine whether the acai berry, or a colonic cleansing regiment, would be a good nutritional option for you.
