Acai Body Cleanse – Treatment Options

By - Updated Nov 14, 2014

There are many methods, and benefits, of cleansing the body of residual toxic buildup. The accumulation of harmful bacteria or fecal matter within the colon could lead to a variety of diseases, while general toxicity from habits like smoking or living in a polluted area could lead to toxic buildup in a variety of other organs. For this reason, many types of bodily and colonic detoxification diets are often recommended including acai body cleanse solutions that utilize special antioxidant properties. This particular fruit is a common and popular way of helping to rejuvenate the body and promote overall longevity.

Acai Body Cleanse

The berry that is found in acai body cleanse products comes from the acai palm tree that is located in American rainforests, tropical conditions, and areas with high humidity. As a traditional remedy, the acai berry is famous as a way to treat a variety of conditions in primitive South American medicine. In the modern age, acai fruits are not only eaten raw, added to smoothies, but often taken solely for health effects, and perhaps used as part of a colonic cleansing treatment that involves the direct flushing of the colon with certain liquid solutions to help infuse the body with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

These antioxidants found in the berry and in acai body cleanse products stem from the phytochemicals that the fruit contains. Rich in amino acids and these flavonoids, the berry has among the highest concentrations of antioxidants found in any food (source: Journal Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2006). These antioxidants directly fight free radicals that could be responsible for a variety of diseases, while natural health specialists believe that they are also instrumental with overall bodily cleanliness and detoxification, especially regarding colonic treatment. In addition, acai is also an anti-inflammatory, and may even provide relief from certain inflammatory conditions.

However, before using an acai body cleanse treatment, consult with a doctor. Detoxification diets and / or colonic cleansing techniques are not for everyone, and people with certain conditions or using certain medical treatments should avoid colonic treatments. In addition, such products may contain a variety of other fruits and herbal supplements, and some of them could have potential side effects or create allergic reactions. Before using any type of intensive natural remedy, you should very carefully research the ingredients and guarantee they are safe for your particular body type, and to work with a doctor or registered dietitian for a better understanding.
