Acai Diet Cleanse – Important Information

By - Updated Nov 13, 2014

Acai is a blue berry found on the acai palm, native to South America. For generations, people have enjoyed the acai diet for its nutritional benefits. The blue berry, according to some studies, may be the highest source of antioxidants available among most types of fruit. Acai diet cleanse products are also commonly sold as a way to help detoxify the body and perhaps be used for certain colonic cleansing purposes. In addition, acai is commonly available as an added ingredient in many types of smoothies, fruit drinks, health bars and other items commonly sold at the supermarket.

Acai Diet Cleanse

Acai diet cleanse products became popular several years ago, as new research linked acai’s high antioxidant properties. Antioxidants are useful for a number of reasons, but most reputedly they fight free radicals that are oxygen molecules with destructive properties to the body. The cleansing effects of acai may utilize these antioxidant abilities to help flush out the body of free radicals as well as other toxins that may accumulate within the digestive system or colon. In addition, acai has potent anti-inflammatory properties, and it’s loaded with a variety of vitamins and minerals, creating an effective mixture of different cleansing abilities.

An acai diet cleanse solution may come in the form of an oral supplement that is drank and is designed for colonic flushing, or in other circumstances one may experience direct colonic washing by a trained professional. Advocates of these techniques claim that colonic washing directly impacts the rest of the body’s health, and they may claim improved mood, greater feelings of health, and even cured diseases. However, the scientific proof of acai’s healing or detoxification properties are not fully understood or tested, and so the fruit should not be considered a proven healing technique until further research is performed.

Acai diet cleanse techniques are not for everyone. In fact, you should consult with a doctor before beginning any detoxification or colonic cleansing treatment. Dangers include possible allergic reactions, as well as conflicts with other medications. Although acai by itself does not contain any side effects, the process of colonic irrigation must be handled with great care, and it should only be performed by someone with proven credentials and is registered to an organization that oversees such treatments. For more information about bodily cleansing, it’s best to speak to a dietician or a doctor that specializes in natural health and can help you decide what supplements are the best.
