Colon Cleanse Herbs – The Best Herbal Remedies

By - Updated Oct 20, 2014

Taking a brief tour of the colon cleansing products and reading their ingredient lists, you may notice that many of them contain the same ingredients. That is because there are a number of colon cleanse herbs that are so effective, it wouldn’t make sense to not include them in your regular cleansing routine. However, the ways in which these products do differ is in the levels of colon cleanse herbs that are in each. To get started with putting together the most effective formula for your needs, it’s a good idea to first take a look at all of these various colon cleanse herbs and how they function in the body.

Colon Cleanse HerbsOne of the most popular colon cleanse herbs, usually ingested in a medicinal tea, is senna leaf. This is an herbal laxative. Another natural laxative that is seen both in pill or tea form would be rhubarb stem. It particularly acts on the liver, kidneys, and colon. With both of these types of colon cleanse herbs, it’s best to start out in small doses, to avoid creating a dependence on them, and they should only be used as a short-term solution for constipation or weight loss. They may also interfere with heart medication, and should be avoided by pregnant women, so it’s recommended to ask for the advice of a doctor.

Other types of colon cleanse herbs include cinnamon bark, and fennel seed. Commonly used in Middle Eastern or Indian cuisine, these help stimulate digestion and improve circulation. These could be simply added into your food, taken in a supplemental form, or steeped into a tea. Milk thistle seed is also good for the liver and helps with liver cleansing, but is also considered one of the best colon cleanse herbs in terms of its ability to help clear out the system and improve digestion.

For those who are experiencing some of the common symptoms of colon dysfunction, including irritable bowel syndrome, stomach cramping or discomfort, or nausea, chamomile flower and peppermint leaf are two of the best sleep aids. They also soothe the colon and help with basic digestion. This is why it’s commonly recommended by doctors to drink a cup of peppermint tea after a meal, to help the food settle and pass through the colon in a timely manner. These are but a few examples of some of the top types of colon cleanse herbs that you may see in your home or on the shelf.
