Colonic Cleanse – The Real Facts

By - Updated May 2, 2016

More and more people are turning toward alternative therapies to rid themselves of various common ailments, including digestive disorders that are extremely common. Excessive gas, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation could be alleviated through a colonic cleanse treatment, but before beginning this type of therapy it’s important to understand exactly what it is, and learn about the types of ingredients used in these therapies. In fact, colonic cleansing has existed for centuries, as even before modern medicine people understood there was a link between the colon and the central nervous system that affected overall feelings of health and energy levels.

It’s a common myth that coloniccleanse treatments only involve enema style treatments in a clinic. This is not true. Most colonic cleansing occurs through simple dietary style supplements that are designed to help flush the digestive system and infuse the gut with various strong herbal supplements that range in function from the elimination of free radicals to the purification of the intestinal tract during the digestion process. However, direct colonic flushing treatments also exist, and some people support this as the best way to ensure a healthy colon versus the supplements that do not literally wash out the colon and may contain processed ingredients.

A colonic cleanse treatment may be used to correct gastrointestinal imbalances, normalize bowel movements, or treat various bowel related symptoms like diarrhea and constipation. Or, some people simply take these treatments as a way to potentially prevent future diseases. These treatments are typically safe, but there’s important considerations to first consider, such as the quality of the brand that you are purchasing from. If you are considering colonic treatments, pay attention to consumer reports to guarantee the ingredients are pure and that the company is not implementing cheap alternatives to certain ingredients that may actually intensify certain abdominal symptoms.

In addition, those who purchase a coloniccleanse solution must discontinue use if any type of allergic reaction occurs, including swelling and abdominal pain. The huge variety of ingredients unfortunately ups the chance of being exposed to a previously undiscovered allergy, and this is possibly the best reason why a colonic cleanse treatment is best implemented through the advice and guidance of a doctor or a dietitian. However, with proper planning and due diligence, it’s possible that colonic cleansing may work for you. Although there is a lack of proper scientific data to support the therapeutic abilities of these treatments, there are plenty of positive testimonials that a healthy colon may alleviate a great variety of symptoms.
