Ionic Foot Detox: Toxins Expelled From the Body

By - Updated Nov 19, 2014

Detoxification is one of thebody’s natural processes. It is very important to excrete the harmful toxins from the body so it can function optimally. Accumulating too much toxins in the body can lead to several diseases and illnesses from simple stomachaches to severe digestive problems that can even become fatal.

Today, there are several ways to detoxify the body, from cleansing diets to using several cleansing supplements. You can also use a special bath for detoxification called the ionic foot detox.

What is Ionic Foot Detox?

Ionic Foot Detox

Ionic foot detox is the process of detoxifying the body by submerging the feet in a water solution and using an ionic foot detox machine. This detoxifying method is said able to produce negative and positive ions which stimulate the cells in the body. It also claims to help achieve body balance by excreting harmful toxins from the body. This can help prevent and manage several health problems especially those that are related to the colon.

The method of ionic foot detox is easy. The patient places her or his feet in the foot bath which contains water and salt. A special ionic footdetox unit is used to deliver electrical current through what is called the ionizer array that is placed into the water to produce positive and negative ions. The negative ions are absorbed through the pores of the feet, travel within the body and attach themselves to the toxins.

Since most toxins are positively charged, such as heavy metals, the meeting of these opposite charges results in neutralization. When the toxins are neutralized, they are easily excreted from the body through the body’s normal processes.

After a few minutes of submerging the feet in the foot bath, the clear water will change in color from rusty orange to black. The kind of disease or ailment addressed during the ionic foot detox will depend on what color the water turns into after the session.

Typically, one session of ionic foot detox costs around $30.

Benefits of the Ionic Foot Detox

Ionic foot detox is believed to carry a lot of health benefits. Some of them include:

  • Increased energy
  • Reduced stress and fatigue
  • Removes skin impurities
  • Improved concentration
  • Promotes better sleep
  • Alleviate joint pains
  • Prevents numerous illnesses and diseases

Disadvantages of Ionic Foot Detox

Although the ionic foot detox seems to offer several health benefits and does not cause any serious side effects, some health experts are not very convinced of its efficacy. The controversy is rooted from the several observations and laboratory tests that show the water will change in color, whether the feet had been submerged into the water or not. Some experts have come to the conclusion that the change in water color is said to be due to accumulation of rust when the electrodes are corroded.

Conclusion

While detoxifying is perceived as a necessary and important process for us to be healthy, it is best to choose a detoxification method that’s not just safe but also effective. The ideal detoxification method should be medically and scientifically proven so that you can get the best value for your money.
