Colonic Cleansing – The Super Enema

By - Updated Dec 26, 2018

If you know what is enema and actually have no qualms about using it, then colonic cleansing should be the ideal method to get your bowel cleansed up of the fecal matters and the toxins, which may be threatening your colon health and also, that of your entire bodily system as well.

Aim of Colonic Cleansing

Colonic CleansingOf the whole lot of colon cleansing plans, colonic cleansing is perhaps one that does the work to your entire satisfaction. Also known as colonic, colonics, high colonics, colonic irrigation or colon hydrotherapy, the process is simply one of the most effective bowel cleansing methods, which can help you get a positive result any day you prefer to use it.

Colonic cleansing is undertaken with the basic aim of facilitating expulsion of the fecal wastes that get accumulated inside your colon over a period of time. The force of regulated warm water infused repeatedly helps in scrapping the hardened feces lodged on the colon wall and in evacuating the lot through the tube inserted through the rectum.

Colonic cleansing is also used for relief of constipation. It can also be employed to bring improvement to your overall health, even though there are lots of controversies on this specific issue.

Colonic Cleansing vis-à-vis Enema

While colonic cleansing follows more or less the same procedure to start with introduction of water into the rectum in order to wash the colon there are some major differences in so far as the results that you obtain from the two therapies.

Some of these differences are :

  • Enema factually cleanses the lower areas of the colon (part of the descending colon plus the sigmoid portion), whereas colonic cleansing takes care of the whole span of the colon.
  • In colonic cleansing, water is introduced a number of times at regular intervals while water is infused only once during the enema process.
  • A tube is used specifically to carry the expelled feces from the bowel during colonic cleansing, while after administration of enema, you have got to sit on a toilet to evacuate the fecal matter deposited at the bottom end of your colon.
  • While enema can be self-administered by you with the help of the hordes of enema kits now available everywhere colonic is required to be undertaken under supervision of an expert therapist.

In spite of these differences, colonic cleansing is largely seen as another form of enema. While enema is an age-old method used primarily for washing the bowel, colonic cleansing came to be recognized as a possible improvement on enema in the early parts of the twentieth century.

Other Usages and Benefits

Apart from being used almost exclusively for washing the bowel through infusion of warm water, colonic cleansing is also employed for diverse other diseases including depression and arthritis. Another area in which colonic cleansing is being extensively used by the medical fraternity includes several investigative and diagnostic procedures.

There seemed to have a decline in the demand for colonic-based treatment methods following introduction of more and more laxative products over the past few decades. However, as the advisability of making laxative a habit is being questioned in many quarters, colonic cleansing even the Enema kits seem to be gaining the lost ground gradually. Increasing number of people tend to accept colonic cleansing as a better alternative for body detoxification and general wellbeing.
